Indian Summer Day Camp
Indian
Summer Day Camp is a weeklong program teaching children (ages 9
through 13) Southeastern Indian lifeways. Located in Moundville
Archaeological Park, children learn about archaeology and biology
as well as Native American arts, crafts and technologies. Activities
include park, museum and archaeological laboratory tours, videos,
nature hikes, sampling Indian foods and playing Native American
games. Among other things, children create pottery and either baskets
or gourd containers.
When:
Two identical sessions are offered:
June
2-6
July 21-25
Where:
Meet for van pick up at Smith Hall (6th Avenue, UA Campus) at 8:30
a.m. or meet us at the admissions building at the park at 9:00a.m.
Afternoon pick up is at 4:30 at Smith Hall or 4:00 p.m. at Moundville
Archaeological Park.
What:
The $175.00 fee includes all materials,
transportation and snacks. Museum members
get a discounted rate of $150.00 per child and people registering
multiple children also get a discount. Children need to bring their
own lunch with drink and wear old clothing and comfortable shoes.
